What is a “Reading List”?

The objective of a reading list, in the study of history, is to help people understand where they can start their research on complicated topics. Here, you will find the reading lists to help you start your research, with historical topics spanning centuries.

About the Reading List:

Over the past few weeks, to be precise across January 2024, multiple people have gotten in touch with me inquiring after sources. The inquiries, given the nature of the majority of the content I post on the website, have been about sources relating to Indian history. In this section of the article, I have done my best to collate these sources into one comprehensive bibliography. I have included, where possible, links to where these sources can be viewed for free – mostly on the Internet Archive. I am a firm believer in not locking away knowledge and primary sources behind paywalls and this is my contribution to further that cause.

At the moment, I have included only Primary Sources in this bibliography; even then, I have only included primary sources that have been translated into English and are readily available. I hope that this proves to be useful. I will be updating this list regularly!
