S. A. Joshi – Founder, Writer, Editor

S. A. Joshi has a Bachelor’s in History from NTU and a Master’s in Global History from the University of Warwick. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Warwick, where he is attempting to create a new history of the 1971 Indo-Pak War. A considerable part of his research focuses on India in the 17th Century, on the eve of the rise of the East India Company. However, his primary focus is the subcontinent in the late 20th Century – specifically, he is currently working towards creating a new and ground-up history of India’s various wars and conflicts since Independence.

Sophie Watkins – Contributing Writer

In 2024, Sophie graduated from the University of Lincoln with her Bachelor’s degree in Politics and International Relations, where she immediately returned to undertake her Master’s degree in History, returning to the subject academically for the first time since Sixth Form. During her A-Levels, Sophie first began learning about the Russian Revolution and the Soviet Union, which would become her area of interest. Up until that point, history was always Sophie’s favourite subject, whether she was in the classroom or not – most summer holidays were spent at museums, archaeological sites and at home re-reading E.H. Gombrich’s Entire History of the World and writing essays to gift her history teacher when she went back to school.

Those essays were the beginning of a love of writing, which has since manifested itself in poetry reviewed by Cambridge University, her own personal prose, and journal articles for her local magazine About Thetford during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently living in Northamptonshire with her fiancé, and ten guinea pigs, she is completing her Master’s degree in history, whilst being a Contributing Writer for Easy History, with a keen focus on the Russian Revolution and pre-revolutionary politics, Leninist and Stalinist society, the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the late Cold War.
