In each issue (except the third), there will be 8 articles split among the following types of article. In your pitch email you MUST mention the category you are submitting for.
- Analytical/argumentative
- Writers will analyse a historical event, or document, or person and present an argument
- This is the format best suited for hardcore historians
- Narrative
- Writers will create a narrative, based on a person or more abstract, out of a historical event
- This is the format best suited for those who want to tell a story rather than make an argument
- Opinion
- Writers will posit opinions based on the theme (e.g. article: “the importance of declassified documents on cold war research”, book reviews of relevant books)
- This is the format best suited for writers who want to talk about the theme’s historiography rather than history itself
